Mikulov is filled with beautiful buildings, many still sporting impressive Renaissance and baroque facades. The long main square, called simply Náměstí (square), has many houses of interest, including the Town Hall at No 1 and the sgraffitoed Restaurace Alfa.

The town was a leading centre of Jewish culture for several centuries until WWII. There's a small former synagogue here as well as a highly evocative Jewish Cemetery, a 10-minute walk north of the tourist information office.
