Cuban in Habana Vieja

Located in a restored colonial mansion on the outskirts of Old Havana’s oldest quarter, Jíbaro is a great option for authentic Cuban food and much-praised mocktails (unusual nonalcoholic cocktails). Local dishes take a modern twist without getting too chic. Stick to the basics and ask for stuffed tostones (fried plantain), ropa vieja (shredded beef) and black-bean cream.

A striking mural guards the doorway in Calle Merced.
