The pretty seaside hamlet of Valun, 14km southwest of Cres Town, is secluded at the foot of cliffs and surrounded by pebbly beaches. Its appeal lies in its tranquillity: its restaurants are rarely crowded, and there’s a refreshing lack of souvenir stalls or touristy tack.
Park in the lot above the village and take the steep steps down. To the right of the harbour, a path leads to a beach and camping ground. About 700m in the other direction there’s another lovely pebble beach bordered by pines.
