The pleasant town of Klanjec is a nice pit stop to catch some fantastic sculpture: it's the birthplace of a notable Croat, sculptor Antun Augustinčić (1900–79), who created the Monument to Peace in front of the UN building in New York, and the town is home to the Antun Augustinčić Gallery. Also here is a 17th-century baroque church and Franciscan monastery.
