Hello,
We are planning a 2 week trip to Croatia this August, with myself, my husband and our teenage son. We are flying in and out of Venice. I'm just in the beginning stages of planning the trip. I was thinking we'd take a ferry from Venice to either Pula or Rovinj for a few days, and spend the rest of the trip on the Dalmatian coast, and then fly from Split back to Venice. I am having trouble finding a ferry from anywhere in Istria to that area. Do you know of one? Will we need to drive…

My husband and I rented a car when we were on vacation recently in the Istrian peninsula. We decided to drive to Hum, the smallest city in the world. I can recommend this trip as it’s a good way to see the countryside and the little town itself is charming, if a bit touristy with the kitschy shops.

But if you’re driving, please heed this advice. Do be careful driving up these winding and hilly roads. The roads are barely paved and quite narrow. There are few street signs to denote speed limit…

Hi All,
Anyone got any recommendations for a car hire company in Zagreb? Just want a small manual car. Cheers.

Hi!

I am going on an organised trip to Starigrad in July. You can book a lot of activities through the organisation, but I figured booking them on your own might be cheaper. If you book through the organisation however, they also take care of the transport. That's why I'm wondering what public transport in Starigrad is like and what it costs. Are there other ways of getting around? Renting a bicycle or taking an uber?

I will be travelling with my sister, flying into and out of Split for 10 days in mid September. Probably looking at staying within the Istrian Peninsula but everywhere looks so nice so I'm feeling very confused on best place to stay; same place and use it as a base or few days in different locations (budget of no more than £50 per night per room). Also, a good itinerary where we can have a good mix of relaxing days at the beach but also visiting nearby islands and tourist attractions. If we go…

A) We are in Split for 3 days in July and although we don't have enough time to stay on the islands nearby, we wanted to visit one or more of them - would Hvar or Vis make for good day trips? Should one book the ferry in advance, and take the car as well?

B)We're also planning a day trip from Dubrovnik by boat - our contact has suggested a few options:

  1. Elafiti Islands
  2. MlJet (without national park), Peljesac and Elafiti
  3. Island of Mljet (National Park)
  4. Korcula and Peljesac

There are 7…

I will be staying in trogir in august

I am looking for mainly sandy (or at pebbles) beaches that are not completly crowded with people.
something a bit more relaxing with shallow water - that allows a picnic and relax.

I found businci beach - seems to have pebbles and looks rather crowded
Pantana beach
lumbrelin beach

does anyone have any other recommendations for me?
or have you been to any of the beaches mentioned?
are they any good - what would you recommened me?

Hi all,
My partner and will be spending 2 weeks in Croatia in September. Our itinerary covers Zadar-Plitvice Lakes-Split-Korcula-Mljet-Dubrovnik, with short city stops and longer stays in the islands. I've been looking at AirBnB and Booking to find accommodation, but also reading this forum looking for some tips, some of which haven't panned out (the apartments are unavailable or outside our budget).

Could I get any suggestions for accommodation in Split, Korcula and Mljet under 100EUR/night…

If you've been to both, which would you recommend staying? I wish I had more than 10 days in Croatia. Or, should I skip staying the night on either, and just day visit one enroute from Dubrovnik to Split? Thanks!

I’m hoping to get a bit of light fishing in during my holiday in Mijet next week and would welcome some tips on methods baits etc. I’ll be staying in Sobra, but will visit other parts of the Island.

I will bring my telescopic rod for a bit of fishing near rocks or off harbour walls etc (I know fishing in the lakes is not allowed). Happy catching quite small fish, maybe to odd one for the pot and the outside chance of something bigger coming along.

I understand I need a license. Where can I buy…
