Coastal Dalmatian cooking is all about fresh seafood and you'll find plenty of small konobe (taverns) throughout the region serving grilled fish and squid, seafood risottos and pastas, and a variety of octopus dishes. At many places you can call ahead for a meal slow-roasted under a peka (traditional metal dome) – usually lamb, veal or octopus. Split, Hvar Town and Vis have the best culinary scenes.
