Feature: Baoulé Dancing
You can arrange to see Baoulé dancing in the nearby villages. The Baoulé are an ethnic group who live in the Yamoussokro area, and when there is an occasion for a village celebration, or a sacrifice is offered to the gods, these dances are organised. It's a community event where several men, dressed up in grass and hay costumes and wearing wooden masks, dance in a crowd of singing villagers. Everyone takes part in the dance, singing and making rhythm with traditional instruments such as drums and calabashes. Enquire at the tourist office.
