Esquinas consists of 14 spacious, high-ceilinged, fan-cooled cabins with indigenous textiles on the walls. The lodge’s extensive grounds comprise a network of well-marked trails and a stream-fed pool. It was founded by the nonprofit Rainforest of the Austrians, vital in the establishment of Piedras Blancas as a national park. It's in Gamba, 7km west of Km 37 on the Interamericana.
Surrounded by the primary rainforest of the park, Esquinas is integrally connected with the community of Gamba, employing local workers and reinvesting profits in community projects. By offsetting development with tree planting, it has become 100% carbon neutral.
Furnished in wood, rooms offer a fan, desk, seating area, a wardrobe and a private bathroom. The jungle villa also features a kitchen with a dining area, kitchenware, a stove and a fridge.
Guests at Esquinas Rainforest Lodge can enjoy all meals included in the rate. There is also an on-site bar available.
This lodge is part of the prize-winning Rainforest of the Austrians project, and can arrange activities such as hiking in Piedras Blancas National Park, horseback riding to Chorro Waterfall and boat tours in the Gulf of Dulce.
The property is 25 minutes’ drive from Golfito Village and 8 km from the Golfito Local Airport. San José is a 45-minute flight or around a 6-hour drive away.
