Lost my certificate in Bolivia. Officially Costa Rica requires a yellow fever certificate if you're coming from a risk country (which I will be - Peru). Has anyone ever actually had a problem with this?

Hello,

I'm planning on traveling to Costa Rica in late July. My group will be staying at a home in Los Pargos near Playa Negra for 6 days.

I had a concern about safety. I've read 2 packing lists and spoken to 1 person who all said that women are expected to dress a certain way over there, and that gringo women had better not draw attention to themselves for their own good. However then these same resources say to bring dresses and fail to discuss what consists of inappropriate.

First of all…

I'll fly to SJO next week and staying in Barrio Amón for 3 nights.
In 2014 I was in Alajuela watching the world cup in a public viewing when the Ticos played against Netherlands. Are there now public viewings too in SJO? Then we'll travel to Cahuita and our hotel room won't have TV. Hope to find a bar to watch CR against Switzerland, and the Swiss win.

top volcanoes?

during my visit to Costa Rica I was able to visit Irazu volcano and, although I could not see it up close, I was able to enter a near museum that explained everything you need to know about that volcano, and the history of volcanoes in Costa Rica, form that moment I consider that volcanoes are a strong attraction for those who want to know Costa Rica.
Today I saw a post with a "top 5 volcanoes that you can not miss in Costa Rica" list and they were in this order:
1. The Arenal
2. Poás
3. Irazú

We (myself, husband and 17-year old son) have 4 nights and 3.5 days scheduled for the southern Caribbean coast, exploring from Cahuita to Manzanillo. We will have a rental car. I would love some recommendations on accommodation. Ideally, we would be as close as possible to the beach, and in a place where there are some other people to meet, but we don't want a party scene. A swimming pool is desirable, but definitely not a necessity. Peurto Vijeo seems a little busy, but Manzanillo might be a…

I am sure this has been covered in other threads, but we are heading to CR in early July for 28 days. Was planning to go to Nicaragua as well, but that has obviously changed. Travelling with two kids (age 9 and 12) arrive San Jose. Wondering whether it is cost efficient to rent a car vs. taking local transport. The car will allow us more flexibility but probably not using it every day as moving about every 2-4 days. I like local transport since you become immersed in local culture a bit…

Hello!
My husband and I are visiting Costa Rica for the first time this July, and are working on our transportation plans. We are planning to travel from Monteverde to Drake Bay - is it possible to make this trip in one day? I have found a few shuttle companies that travel from Monteverde to Sierpe that leave at 8:00 AM. If this is approximately a 7 hour drive, that would put us in Sierpe around 3:00 PM. Would we be able to catch the 3:30 boat to Drake Bay, or would it be best to spend a night in…
