You’ll find a little bit of magic amid the clouds at Colinas Verdes, set on 35 hectares of emerald-green hills and misty skies. Much of the property has been set aside for conservation and reforestation, but you’ll find 4km of biking/hiking trails winding their way through the forest, with five hanging bridges, four short zipline cables and countless stunning vistas.

Colinas Verdes is in the tiny village of Jabonal, a bit further north of Zapotal proper.

If you want to sleep in the clouds, there are four comfortable, hot-water cabins (double US$60) on the grounds. The lodge also organizes outings and tours on mountain bike – a thrilling way to explore this amazing area. At the northern end of Miramar, take the right-hand fork and drive about 14km on the very rough road to Zapotal.
