Day 3: San José - Tortuguero
Day 4: Tortuguero
Day 5: Tortuguero - La Fortuna
Day 6: La Fortuna
Day 7: La Fortuna - Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio
Day 8: Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio

We are a family of 5 arriving in SJO at about 10am and want to drive to Nosara, but debating between getting a rental car and hiring a private shuttle. We will have a week in Nosara and will pick-up a 6th person while there and do want to have a car to get around. We then need to drive back to SJO to fly-out. Had been thinking about private shuttles between SJO and Nosara and just renting a car while in Nosara. Was a little concerned about whether we might arrive after dark in…
I've been debating on how to get to Drake Bay from San Jose in mid-August. Our family arrives in SJO at 9:15a and it seems like our options for getting to Drake Bay are either to take the 12:15p Sansa flight from SJO to Drake Bay, or to hire a private shuttle to take us to Uvita, spend the night in Uvita, then catch hired transport from Uvita to Sierpe and then catch an 11a boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay arranged by our lodge and arriving a day later. I'm not a big fan of afternoon flights in…
Is this possible in a day? Google Maps tells me the drive is about five hours, but how does that estimate compare to reality?
My fiance and I are getting married in Playas del Coco next March. We recently discovered Corcovado, and would love to take a day trip there as well as explore Manuel Antonio, so Uvita seems like a great place to stay. The logistical problem is that we have enough travel points to stay at the Andez Papagayo for free, which seems like a relaxing way to end our honeymoon…
My family and I are travelling to Cahuita for 5 nights in August. There are five of us, and we are struggling to find accommodation. Ideally, we would like a bungalow on the beach or beach front. Can anyone help?
We are going to cycle in Costarica for 2 weeks in August. Since my wife is riding a non suspension cyclocross bike with 700 / 35 tires, and she's not too experienced on rocky / sandy surfaces, we would like to avoid / reduce unpaved sections. Pushing a kilometer or two a day is ok... pusking everyday for 10km is not :-).
Unluckily it's not easy to understand by gmaps / osm if a road is paved or not. Can anyone suggest us a map which is reliable about this? Any direct experience?
Hi, soon I’ll fly to SJO and can’t bring my trekking poles on plane (backpack is to small). I wonder if Walmart in Alajuela has some. It seems there is no outdoor shop in San José downtown.
Lost my certificate in Bolivia. Officially Costa Rica requires a yellow fever certificate if you're coming from a risk country (which I will be - Peru). Has anyone ever actually had a problem with this?
I'm planning on traveling to Costa Rica in late July. My group will be staying at a home in Los Pargos near Playa Negra for 6 days.
I had a concern about safety. I've read 2 packing lists and spoken to 1 person who all said that women are expected to dress a certain way over there, and that gringo women had better not draw attention to themselves for their own good. However then these same resources say to bring dresses and fail to discuss what consists of inappropriate.
First of all…
I'll fly to SJO next week and staying in Barrio Amón for 3 nights.
In 2014 I was in Alajuela watching the world cup in a public viewing when the Ticos played against Netherlands. Are there now public viewings too in SJO? Then we'll travel to Cahuita and our hotel room won't have TV. Hope to find a bar to watch CR against Switzerland, and the Swiss win.
