Im landing in Cartagena in a few days and am hoping to rent a car and drive to Santa Marta ( and back).
Anyone have advice on companies convenient to the airport and what I should expect for rates?
I have read that Capurganá & Sapzurro have wildlife and nature equal to Tayrona but without the crowds. I prefer places with a more "off-the-beaten-track" feel, but also know that sometimes there is a reason for places being popular - they are amazing! Anyone been to both? We love cool bugs and monkeys in our family.
We have a couple of weeks for the Carribean coast and the guide book has convinced me to try and see it all (although my preference is to stay in just one or 2 places)…
I'm arriving at Medellin's airport on Saturday at 9pm.
Does anybody know until what time there are buses from there to city centre ( bus stop near nutibara hotel)?
Otherwise, how much is taxi fare for the same route?
I'm looking for mail adress of Hotel Normandia. Do you know it?
Hey there! I would like your advice on an itinerary that we are currently in the beginning phases of planning.
This will be for our 2.5-3 week honeymoon in January and we want to combine Colombia's Caribbean and Zona Cafetera + Panama. We are really interested in the following locations but having trouble piecing them together:
Cartagena, Ciudad Perdida, Tayrona National Park, Medellín, Salento, Panama City, San Blas and Bocas del Toro.
We don't mind if we have to take flights/bus to get to far…
in the LP there's a recommendation to walk from Salento to Vereda Palestina to visit some coffee farms.
Has anybody done this walk? Is it easy to find? Difficult / tough conditions?
Do we need to book a coffee tour in Vereda Palestina in advance or can I just walk by?
Alternative would be to take the Bus to Finlandia? Does anybody know how long the ride takes?
I’m currently planning a 4-month trip to South America with my wife later this year, and would greatly appreciate some advice from the Thorntree hive mind on the Colombia section of our itinerary. I’ve been researching the trip extensively over the last few months, including on these forums, but it seems like every time I think I’ve worked out a plan I’m suddenly seized by an urge to rip it all up and start again… South America is a big place!
Colombia is the final stop on our trip…
Does a Colombian have to tell the interviewer during the visa application process everywhere he/she may end up visiting in the United States? The reason is, for example, the initial plan is to just go to one state but upon arriving in the United States, an additional plan is made to visit another state (via airplane) as well. But this additioinal plan may not even happen.
does anybody know what boat options I have from playa Blanca to isla Grande? schedule, crossing time, cost?
Also a safe place to park my car for three nights or so?
Thank you in advance for all accurate/recent info!
I only have 3 nights in the Amazon department. Since I don't wanna book an expensive tour in andvance I plan to stay in Puerto Nariño for 2 nights (if possible) and find a guide there. (Would you rather suggest to start a tour from Leticia?)
My partner and I arrive by plane at 12.32 in Leticia, the last boat leaves at 14:00 to Puerto Nariño. Would you say, it's enough time to catch the boat? (we bring bigger backpacks)
If not, where could I find a private one and how much would it…
Planning one month in Colombia from mid-July to mid-August with family - 2 kids ages 9 and 11. We want wildlife, snorkelling, surfing and hot springs would be a plus.
We are in and out of bagota. Was thinking of following the LP complete Caribbean itinerary, plus a week in Medellin and Zona cafeteria, or travelling overland to the Caribbean via San Gil and villa leyva skipping Medellin and area. Thoughts?
I have a few questions - do we need to book accommodation in advance?
Weird thing - any…
