A tiny village 15km southwest of Sogamoso, Iza is a very quiet town particularly notable for its desserts. It all started with merengón (meringue with local fruits) sold from the back of cars and grew into a tradition, especially on weekends, when it's a sweet-tooth free-for-all in the plaza. The rest of the week Iza is supremely tranquil. It's worth bedding down here for a night if you're looking to bliss out in a colonial hamlet untouched by big tourism.
