The new year is in full swing and luckily there are no mid-winter blues in Bogotá. As one of the driest months with low tourist numbers, February is the perfect time to visit the capital city, especially to mingle with locals. From funky outdoor concerts and a book festival to sultry tango and classical orchestra performances, these are the best things to do this month.

Enjoy stunning shows at Teatro Mayor
Teatro Mayor will be hosting the International Contemporary Ensemble from the US as it presents “Primordial/Lift” by composer Paulina Oliveros. The score was inspired by the gradual increase in the resonant frequency of the planet, and the ensemble will be tuned to the natural vibrations of the Earth.
For some fire and spice, check out Forever Tango, a musical that tells the passionate story of how tango originated in the port slums of Argentina in the nineteenth century. The show stars Diego El Cigala along with fourteen dancers and an eleven-piece orchestra, including the tango instrument, the bandoneón.
