See how Xian wakes up by eating shoulder to shoulder with locals and exploring one of China's oldest and largest markets! Join this small group tour and jump in our tuktuks and wind through the narrow streets of Xian to visit family-owned restaurants who make the best local dishes right in front of you.
You will be picked up from your downtown Xian hotel around 8:00 am and be driven to the meeting point for this tour, Xi Hua Men Fire Station. Here, your friendly guide and tuktuk will be awaiting you.
Wind your way through the narrow streets and alleys of Xian by private tuktuk to find the best food in the city. We will start you off with a selection of our specially blended leaves and herbal teas and then take you to places where only locals go. You’ll cover a lot of ground and get off the beaten path to family-run restaurants that you (and other tourists) won’t be able to find on your own. Between food stops, you’ll be able to chat with your English speaking guide while you watch the city go by.
While visiting our 4-5 food stops, you will get to learn about the families that have been making their specialties for generations. You’ll watch your food being made and learn about what makes it so special to Xian. Try fresh bread cooked by heated rocks, watch fried beef pancakes made to order right in front of you, and pull your own noodles by hand; this will be the best food you’ll try during your visit!
Between food stops, we’ll take a short walk through Xian’s largest market that sprawls within Xian’s Muslim Quarter every morning. Along with a huge variety of local produce, it’s also common to find local honey, handmade noodles, dried herbs, and tea. We also visit some talking birds and an old man who raises insects for a living.
When the tour finishes, you will continue your journey on your own in this amazing city.
