China is a country full of highlights and hidden treasures, and if you visit it with us, you’ll be sure to get a top mix of both. Over two weeks, you’ll venture from Beijing to Hong Kong, taking in China’s contrasts between ancient and modern as you explore both cityscapes and countrysides. There’s a visit to the Great Wall included, plus the chance to check out the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, an overnight stay at the roundhouses in Fujian, and so much more packed into a relatively short trip. This is a great first trip to China to get a taste that will leave you wanting to come back.

Itinerary

Day 1 Beijing Arrive at any time. Included Activities: Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting
Day 2 Beijing The Chinese capital, Beijing, is one of the world's most impressive and vibrant cities. Spend a day at the Great Wall, a monumental feat of engineering intended to protect China from the northern barbarians. Included Activities: Great Wall Mutianyu Visit
Day 3 Beijing/Xi'an Enjoy free time in Beijing before an overnight train to Xi'an. Additional Notes: Train is our main mode of transport in China and it's a great way to travel. Transport: Basic overnight train (beds) (12.00-15.00 hours)
Day 4 Xi'an Opt to tour the lovely and unusual Great Mosque (a wonderfully serene place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city), great souvenir stalls, and enjoy some of the best street food in China. The remaining city walls are a great place to watch the sunset or join the locals for ballroom dancing or tai chi in the early morning. Opt to take a day trip to the Terracotta Warriors, situated a short drive out of town (approximately 1 hr). Included Activities: Muslim Quarter Orientation Walk
Day 5 Xi'an/Suzhou Enjoy free time to explore Xi'an, then take an overnight train to Suzhou. Transport: Basic overnight train (beds) (14.00-16.00 hours)
Day 6 Suzhou Visit Suzhou, the "Venice of the East." Opt to explore the Master of the Nets Garden, one of China's most exquisite gardens. In the evening, let loose like the locals with a karaoke session in a private room for the group; this is sure to be a memorable night! Included Activities: Private Karaoke Session
Day 7 Suzhou/Shanghai Shanghai is the most modern of Chinese cities. Go shopping on the famous Nanjing Road or stroll along the Bund district with its many riverside historical buildings. Included Activities: Orientation Walk of the Bund Transport: Bullet train (2.00 hour(s))
Day 8 Shanghai Today, new travellers may join you for the rest of your adventure. You are welcome to join them at a group meeting this evening, followed by an optional dinner.
Day 9 Shanghai/Wuyishan Enjoy free time or join the CEO for a walk through the Bund, Old Shanghai, People's Park, and more. Board a bullet train to Wuyishan in the Fujian province. Included Activities: Orientation Walk of the Bund Transport: Bullet train (3.50 hour(s))
Day 10 Wuyishan Explore the area with an included entrance ticket to the reserve. Go hiking and opt to go bamboo rafting. Included Activities: Wuyishan Reserve Visit
Day 11 Wuyishan/Xiamen Xiamen is a modern city with a little something for everyone from night markets to beautiful sculptures lit-up at night to peaceful parks. Included Activities: Orientation Walk Transport: Train (3.00 hour(s))
Day 12 Xiamen Free day to explore.
Day 13 Xiamen/Hongkeng Village Transfer to a Yongding County. Overnight in a Hakka tulou, a large, multi-storey fortified roundhouse built for communal living. Enjoy an orientation tour around the village, then experience day-to-day life in this unique province full of history and traditional Chinese culture. Included Activities: Orientation Walk Transport: Local bus (4.00 hour(s))
Day 14 Hongkeng Village Experience day to day life in this unique province full of history and traditional Chinese culture. Opt to visit more Tulou villages in the scenic mountain area or enjoy some free time in the guesthouse.
Day 15 Hongkeng Village/Shenzhen Travel to Longyan in the morning and continue on a fast train to Shenzhen. Transport: Local bus (2.50 hour(s)) Bullet train (4.00 hour(s))
Day 16 Shenzhen/Hong Kong Cross the border into Hong Kong. Catch a train ride from the station into Hung Hum Station in Hong Kong. Tour ends upon arrival to Hong Hum station at approximately 11:00 am.
