These odourless, iron-rich springs 12km west of Tingri are piped into a tepid outdoor pool with natural-looking rock features surrounded by a dirty, drab courtyard. You can expect to share the water with the locals doing their laundry, but the views from the top of the hill are stunning (note: no views from the pool itself).
Accommodation is available (doubles ¥180 to ¥280), though it's extremely basic and quite overpriced (and your bedding will have been washed in the spring). If you do stay, there are some pleasant easy walks around the nearby hills that offer superb views of Cho Oyu. Just double check with your guide about how far you can roam.
The springs are 1km off the Friendship Hwy near kilometre marker 5206.
