Tsochen (མཚོ་ཆེན་, 措勤, Cuòqín), 235km from the northern turn-off near Raka and 173km south of the northern road proper, is probably the most interesting town on the northern route, full of wild-haired nomads wearing colourful chubas and cowboy hats. The eastern end of Guangxi Lu has most of the Tibetan shops. The town is the base for a visit to Tsari Nam-tso, 55km away.
