This budget group tour will show you the downtown and uptown scenery of Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region. You will understand it more deeply by visiting those famous tourist spots, such as the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, etc. Then will go to Shigatse, another mighty city in Tibet, where you can pay a visit to Tashilhunpo Monastery, one of the top four Gelug Monastery, to experience the different Tibetan Buddhism and culture.
Day 1: Arrive in LhasaWelcome to Tibet! Our Tibetan guide will pick you up from the airport or train station. Once transfer to the lovely hotel, please have a good rest first to acclimate to high altitude, avoid altitude sickness. If time is enough, and you cannot help going out, please pack as light as you can. Drink more water and do not walk too far. Try not to take a shower tonight unless you could not put up with it for real. Because if you catch a cold, it will be a big problem.Day 2: Sightseeing in Lhasa Suburb (B, D)Today you are going to visit two of the top three monasteries in Lhasa, one is Drepung, another is Sera. After having breakfast in the hotel, we are heading to the first attraction of this trip. Drepung Monastery is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, which was used to house more than 10,000 monks in the past. In the afternoon, you will visit Sere Monastery, where you can watch the well-known sutra – debate, which is also the highlight of today’s journey. In the evening, there will be the second highlight – the welcome dinner! You can eat the authentic Tibetan food, enjoy a happy time!Day 3: Sightseeing in Lhasa (B)After two days of acclimatizing, you will visit three significant tourist spots today. Having breakfast in the hotel as well, then go to the Potala Palace, the symbol of Lhasa City. After that, we will go to Jokhang Temple. With a history over 1300 years, it has the supreme position in Tibet, and it is the center of Lhasa Kora route. The outside of it is our last attraction today – Barkhor Street. It is an old market and walking street as well. You can buy some Tibetan stuff in the distinctive shops or do kora with the locals.Day 4: Lhasa- Gyantse(4040m)- Shigatse(3840m) (B)Today we will go to Shigatse via Gyantse, both of which are important cities in Tibet. It takes around 6hours to cross these 360 kilometers by car due to the speed-limited regulations. On the way, you will see the Lake Yamdroktso, one of the top three holy lakes in Tibet. From the sky, it looks like a turquoise earring on the highland. But on the road, you cannot see the panorama but only a part of it, which is beautiful enough to get you intoxicated. Passing by Yamdroktso, you will see the Karola Glacier from distance. Finally, you will visit Pelkor Chöde Monastery when arriving in Gyantse.Day 5: Shigatse-Lhasa (B)Today we will go back to Lhasa after visiting Tashilunpo Monastery, which is the largest monastery in Shigatse. It’s regarded as the home of Panchen Lama. And it is called “the small Potala Palace” due to its resplendent and magnificent structure. Then you will return to Lhasa. Here we offer 2 options, one by car, another by train. When you reach Lhasa in the evening, you can go out to wander in the city if you still have time.Day 6: Depart from Lhasa (B)Today you will go to your next destination.
