After three days of essential sightseeing tour in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, travelers will go to Shigatse, passing by the stunning holy lake Yamdroktso and Karola Glacier. Day 1: Arrive in LhasaTashi Delek! Welcome to Tibet! Our Tibetan guide will pick you up from the airport or train station. If it happens to be the daytime, you will understand why Lhasa is called as “the city of sunshine”. You will see the blue sky and white cloud above your head and will be wrapped by the golden sunshine. Once transfer to the lovely hotel, please have a good rest first to acclimate to high altitude, avoid altitude sickness.Day 2: Sightseeing in Lhasa Suburb (B, D)After having breakfast in the hotel, we are heading to Drepung Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, which was used to house more than 10,000 monks. In the afternoon, you will visit Sera Monastery, where you can watch the well-known sutra – debate. The welcome dinner will be held in the evening! Eat the Tibetan food, drink the butter tea, enjoy a happy time.Day 3: Sightseeing in Lhasa (B)Today’s first attraction is the Potala Palace, the symbol of Lhasa, and also the palace with the highest elevation on earth. After that, we will go to Jokhang Temple. With a history over 1300 years, it has the supreme position in Tibet. Then you will go to the busiest walking street in Lhasa-Barkhor Street, where you can shopping or do kora with the locals, to experience the Tibetan life style.Day 4: Lhasa- Gyantse(4040m)- Shigatse(3840m) (B)Today we will go to Shigatse via Gyantse, passing by the Lake Yamdroktso, one of the top three holy lakes in Tibet. From the sky, it looks like a turquoise earring on the highland. But on the road, you can only see a part of it, which is beautiful enough to get you intoxicated. The Karola Glacier comes after Yamdroktso. When arriving in Gyantse, you will visit Pelkor Chöde Monastery, where you can see different Tibetan Buddhism sects mixed together.Day 5: Shigatse - Tingri - EBC(5200m) (B)The highlight of this tour is coming today. After breakfast, you are going to Mt. Everest. If summer time, we will stay overnight at the Everest Base Camp, while winter we sleep at the guesthouse of Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world. The sunset at the Everest is gorgeous.Day 6: EBC – ShigatsePlease get up early to enjoy the sunrise of Everest, which is same breathtaking as the sunset. You can trek for some time, and then we will go back to Shigatse.Day 7: Shigatse-Lhasa (B)Firstly, we will visit Tashilunpo Monastery, the largest monastery in Shigatse. It’s regarded as the home of Panchen Lama. And it is called “the small Potala Palace” due to its resplendent and magnificent structure. Then you will return to Lhasa. In the evening, you can wander in the Lhasa city if you still have time.Day 8: Depart from Lhasa (B)Today you will end this tour and go to your next destination.
