Wǔdàokǒu Beer Garden

Bar in Summer Palace & Hǎidiàn

When Běijing emerges from the deep freeze of its winter, so do its residents. Come summer in Wǔdàokǒu, the area just west of the subway stop turns into a popular open-air beer garden. Locals congregate at the tables, sipping draught beers and snacking on shāokǎo (barbecue) from the food stalls surrounding them.

The party starts in the late afternoon and continues late, getting louder and louder as those ¥10 beers disappear down thirsty throats.
