Opened in 2008 for the Olympics, this once gargantuan hotel held the accolade of the largest Marriott outside the US with over 1000 rooms. It's since more than halved, and the 350 remaining rooms, while comfy and well-appointed, are overdue a spruce-up. Nevertheless, cheap deals are available as a result, and it's the only luxury hotel within walking distance of Běijīng railway station.
Spacious bathrooms are the hotel's strong suit, with deep tubs and thick white towels. The ground-floor lobby bar is designed so that floor-to-ceiling windows present imposing views of a rare chunk of Beijing's city wall that escaped Mao's wrecking ball.
