This tour begins at 7:20am. Meet and greet the guide at a hotel in downtown Chengdu. The first stop will be to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Once at the center, see that they have two types of accommodations for the giant pandas. The first being the 'Captive Cages' and the 2nd being the 'Semi-Nature Enclosures.' Most of the giant pandas in the center stay in the captive cages individually, which are, in fact, very large enclosures, each consisting of an indoor room and an outdoor courtyard. Notice that the 'Semi-Nature Enclosures' are very large, wild areas but are protected by border fences. The pandas seen in those enclosures will soon be released back into the wild. They are kept in the semi-nature enclosures for a long period of time giving them time to adapt to the natural environment. Learn that the giant pandas eat, sleep, and recover their natural survival skills before they are released into the wild. After visiting with the pandas, enjoy a delicious traditional Chinese cuisine lunch and then head to the Grand Buddha. The Grand Buddha is a 230-foot-tall (71 meters) sculpture, carved into one of the large cliffs by the river. In addition to the Grand Buddha, there are also numerous smaller carvings of various Buddhas on the Grand Buddha Cliff Road. Other than carvings, there are also various temples and shrines scattered about, the beautiful Haoshang bridge, and some wonderful small waterfalls. The tour ends with a Chengdu hotel drop-off.
