Tour description

Explore Chengdu on this full-day tour and visit the city’s most iconic attractions such as the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center and the Sichuan Opera. This guided tour includes traditional Sichuan Hot Pot lunch and stops at Wuhou Memorial Temple and Jinli Promenade. On this tour, you will see why this region in China is so popular to visit.

The tour starts with a pickup service in your hotel, from where you’ll head to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a nonprofit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Visit different sections of the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development, from a baby panda to the full-grown giant panda. Visit the baby garden, where you can see giant panda cubs, which weigh only about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) at birth, and by the third month are able to walk on their own. Then stop at the subadult garden, where the adolescent pandas hang out, and see the adult garden, which houses the giant pandas through their adult years. Take pictures of these endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping or frolicking about. After this cuteness overload, you’ll be taken to a hot pot restaurant to enjoy a tasty Sichuanese fare in the company of new friends. Hot pot is just another well-known delectable Sichuan cuisine. At the center of your table will be a simmering metal pot of stock (spicy or non-spicy), waiting for you to throw in ingredients of your liking: various meats, vegetables, seafood and more. The hot pot dinner is a social experience – chat with your neighbors while you create your mouthwatering pot of soup! After lunch, have a visit to Wuhou Memorial Temple which will enlighten you on the amazing personality of Zhuge Liang. The temple highlights his charming personality, his dedicated service to the people as well as his remarkable intelligence. After that, visit Jinli Promenade, a rebuilt trading and folk art street imitating the ancient-style buildings in West Sichuan. "Jinli" is the name of an old street in Han-dynasty Chengdu, meaning "make perfection still more perfect and hide the universe in the universe." The ancient Jinli was one of the oldest and the most commercialized streets in the history of West Shu and had been well-known throughout the country in the Qin, Han, and Three Kingdoms Periods. Finally you’ll drive to a Teahouse in Chengdu Culture Park for the Sichuan Opera. Sit back and enjoy a performance packed with wit, humor, lively dialogue, amazing acrobatics, dancing, acting, puppetry and music, all of which celebrate Sichuan’s creative history in the performing and fine arts. Most acts are derived from Chinese classical novels, legends and folktales. It features dazzling sets and costumes and is known for two distinct acts: Changing Faces and Rolling Light. After the Sichuan opera, transfer back to your hotel where your tour concludes.
