Temuco is great for Mapuche woolen goods (ponchos, blankets and pullovers), pottery, ceramic pailas (earthenware bowls) and musical instruments, such as zampoñas (panpipes) or drums. The best spot in town was the Mercado Municipal, but it was destroyed by fire in 2016 – check out its temporary replacement, Centro Mercado Modelo, which hosts some of the same artesanías; and the excellent shop at Museo Regional de La Araucanía.
