Confitería Torres

Cafe in Santiago

Even after restorations that added contemporary elegance to its appearance, Confitería Torres – one of Santiago's oldest cafes – still wears its history on its sleeve. Aging waiters attend with aplomb, chandeliers glow and the green-and-white floor tiles are worn from use.

Former president Barros Luco always ordered a steak and melted-cheese sandwich here; other famous figures who downed coffee or pisco sours on the premises include illustrious figures from Plácido Domingo to Rubén Darío.
