Swimming

There are fabulous views from the two huge, open-air pools atop Cerro San Cristóbal, Piscina Tupahue and Piscina Antilén. Both are more for splashing about than serious training, which you can do at Centro Deportivo Providencia.

Walking, Running & Cycling

Locals run, walk and cycle along the Río Mapocho (especially through Parque Forestal), in Parque Quinta Normal and along the steep roads of Cerro San Cristóbal. If in town on the first Tuesday of the month, join the crowds of cyclists who cruise through the city on two wheels, part of the Movimiento Furiosos Ciclistas. Otherwise, join the families out biking each Sunday morning thanks to CicloRecreoVía (www.ciclorecreovia.cl), a program that turns many of the city's main streets into bike-only thoroughfares between 9am and 2pm. You can rent bikes and helmets from tour operator La Bicicleta Verde.
