Travel with Children

Central Europe is a great place to bring the young ones. There are well-established attractions geared towards children of all ages, especially in the more western countries. Lonely Planet's Travel with Children is an excellent general resource and includes topics ranging from children's health to games that will keep the kids amused.

  • Highchairs, kids' menus and play areas are more common in restaurants in the western countries of the region than the eastern.
  • Cribs and cots are widely available in hotels and pensions.
  • Most car-hire firms provide children's safety seats for a fee; they must be booked in advance.
  • Selection of baby food, infant formulas, soy and cow's milk, disposable nappies (diapers) and the like is better in large cities than smaller ones.
