Christopher Street Day, Berlin

First held in 1978, this Berlin event in late June is one of the oldest gay and lesbian festivals in the world. Pride-related activities go on all week, culminating with floats and walking GLBT groups parading through the streets and the Tiergarten.

Jodler Fest Luzern

Lucerne is at its Alpine best for three days in June, when 12,000 yodellers and alphorn players come to town. With a variety of colourful national costumes, the performances are wonderful to see as well as hear.

Olomouc Beer Festival

More than 20 breweries participate in this three-day outdoor festival in the eastern Czech Republic. In addition to beers to sample, there are beer souvenirs to buy and more than 40 folk and rock bands to listen to.

Wrocław Non Stop

For 10 days in late June, quirky art installations, alternative movies and music, and experimental theatre and dance take centre stage in Wrocław. Public squares become art galleries and concert halls as the whole town gets in on the act.
