Meet your guide 15 minutes before your tour departure time. Morning tours meet at down in Whistler Village. Afternoon tours meet at the mountain top office near Roundhouse at the top of the gondola. The ride on the Whistler Gondola from the village takes approximately 30 minutes so allow time to arrive promptly. You will be outfitted with a helmet and harness at the mountain top office. We start with a hike across either a snow slope or a boulder field (depending on the time of year and mountain conditions) as you approach the start of the climb. At the base of the climb, you will look up 260 meters to the summit of the Whistler peak. There is a short break about half-way up for water and snacks with excellent photo opportunities and then onward and upward to the 2,160 meter summit. At the summit, take some photos before we make our way down and back to the mountaintop office to conclude the tour. This climb takes roughly 4 hours depending on conditions, number of climbers, and climbing speed. Climbing a Via Ferrata does not require any special skills or prior experience. This thrilling activity is not reserved for seasoned mountain climbers – any reasonably fit hiker can do it! This mountain top adventure goes out in all weather so dress for cooler or wet weather as conditions can change rapidly on the mountain. A backpack for extra layers is recommended.
