As well as being a transportation hub – the SeaBus from downtown docks here and you can hit transit buses to Capilano and Grouse – there's also a popular indoor market here. Look for BC wines, slabs of fudge and glassy-eyed fresh fish on the main floor, plus trinkets and clothing one floor up. There's also a microbrewery tasting room if you're thirsty.
If it's time to eat, the market has a food court plus other tasty dining options. The souvlaki and fish and chips are good but Sharky's is the way to go; $9.95 for a heaping plate of meat and veggies that easily feeds two. The Quay is a popular side trip from downtown, with many visitors scooping up an ice cream and lingering over the boardwalk views of Vancouver's glass-towered skyline.
