Mexican in Gastown & Chinatown

A funky, good-value (three tacos are just $8) little hole-in-the-wall taqueria tucked along a cobbled back alley that looks a lot grittier than it actually is. Snag a paint-spattered stool between the neon-pink flamingos (yes, there's a 1980s vibe here) and dive into several taco options (the beef brisket Austin is our favorite) or heartier rice bowls and quesadillas.

Arrive off-peak to avoid long lineups (there are no reservations) and add a cheap-ass beer to keep things rolling.
