When Vancouverites tell you the Drive is the city's best coffee street, this is one of the places they're thinking about. It tops a healthy mugful of cafes founded here by Italian immigrants. Don't be put off by the chandeliers-and-statues decor (not everyone likes a side order of statuesque genitalia); just order an espresso, sit outside and watch the Drive slide by.

If you really want to pretend you're in Italy, most of the area's old Italian dudes hang around all day outside Toscani coffee bar, a short walk away.
