Some 50km northwest of central Montréal, St-Jérôme is considered the official gateway to the Laurentians. Despite its administrative and industrial look and feel, it might be worth a stop for the town's neo-Romanesque/Byzantine–style cathedral and the nearby Musée d'Art Contemporain des Laurentides. It's also the southern terminus of the Parc Linéaire du P'tit Train du Nord, a cycling and cross-country ski trail system built on top of old railway tracks.
