One of Jasper's most spectacular hikes is the easy amble through this steep, narrow gorge shaped by the torrential waters of the Maligne River. The canyon at its narrowest is only a few meters wide and drops a stomach-turning 50m beneath your feet. Crossed by six bridges, it's most easily accessed from the parking area on Maligne Lake Rd.
Before or after your hike, consider stopping near the trailhead for a bite at Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen, an excellent restaurant opened in 2019 on the site of a former teahouse. In wintertime, the waterfalls here freeze solid into sheets of white ice and are popular with ice climbers.
