Badger Chute Rafting

The Badger Chute Rafting Adventure begins at Riverfront Chalets which is 20km West of Grand Falls-Windsor on the  TransCanada Highway (Route 1).  When you arrive our friendly guides will sign you in and get you set up with all the appropriate safety equipment needed for you adventure.  For cooler weather days a waterproof splash jacket is provided and wet suits are available to rent.  Change rooms and washrooms are provided on site, so you can leave your dry cloths and towels in your vehicle and they will be ready for you when you get off the river.   Once you are geared up our guides will lead you in an entertaining safety briefing before boarding the big red bus for a short 10km trip to Badger, NL.   In Badger, your guides will sort everyone on to rafts (ensuring to keep groups together); each raft can safely accommodate 8-10 people, but we have several rafts so large groups are also welcome!  After some additional safety instructions from your guide you will embark on your guided rafting adventure for some fun in the sun (or rain! All of our trips run rain or shine, and the rainy days can be the best days).  The trip takes you down the mighty Exploits River and features a great assortment of calm sections with great swimming opportunities and some very exciting rapids.  The rapids start really small at the beginning of the trip which is perfect to introduce you to the fun of white water and to prepare you for the excitement ahead.  The signature rapids on the adventure are the "Exploits Steps" and "Badger Chute", both of which feature great waves that will soak everyone on the boat and provide excitement while still being safe enough to allow even non-swimmers and young children to participate.  At the Badger Chute you will even have an optional opportunity to jump into the heart of the rapid and ride a whirlpool!   After conquering the big rapids you take a break on a beautiful rock island for a healthy lunch and to relax and enjoy the outdoors.  There is a great standing wave beside the island that allows us to "surf" the rafts.  This is an optional thrill that is easily the highlight of the day!  Are you brave enough to "Ride the Bull?".  Like every part of the trip, this activity is family friendly as well, so even the kids can take a shot at the big surf! After surfing and eating your fill you will begin the a nice float home featuring plenty of time for swimming and games before you arrive back at Riverfront Chalets for a BBQ and a chance to check out all the great photos from your trip and chat with your guides. This trip will be the highlight of your entire summer!

Exploits Canyon Rafting

Rafting NL's newest and most adventurous tour is in it’s second year of operation and has been an instant hit!  This two-hour excursion takes you to a scenic red-rock canyon in the heart of Grand Falls-Windsor featuring one of the most intense and memorable sections of white water in Newfoundland & Labrador.  Experience the excitement of rafting through an 80 foot vertical walled deepwater canyon and riding a roller coaster of waves crashing around you; your adrenaline will be pumping all day!The tour begins at beautiful Gorge Park in Grand Falls-Windsor.  A short bus ride takes you across the historic paper mill trestle bridge where you will get a chance to peer 80ft down to the Exploits River and some of the amazing rapids you will be rafting.  After a quick briefing from your guide (and a final chance to back out) you will descend down a stone staircase while your guides zip line the boats down to the canyon floor.  At the bottom you will have the opportunity to start your trip by cliff jumping 15ft into the river!  The cliff jump is optional, but highly recommended.  Before taking on the biggest rapids on the island the guides will spend some time teaching you the paddling skills you will need to get the most out of your trip.  Once you are ready, the rafts will enter the current and the ride of your life will begin!  On the river we guarantee that you will be soaked the entire time, and may even be thrown from the raft. Just do what your guide says and enjoy the ride!  The signature rapids on this trip include the "Mill Rapid" and the "Canyon Rapid", both of which feature long wave trains with crashing waves up to 9ft high!  You WILL get wet on this ride!  Other great features include an awesome surfing wave, and the huge hits at "Paul's Falls" and the infamous "Virgin Wave".  This tour is short and sweet so you can make it a quick stop on your journey or even sign up twice in a day without having to alter you trip.  This tour is not for the faint of heart, if you are afraid of water you should book the Badger Chute Rafting Adventure instead.
