This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:

  1. Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the…

Hi,
We are a 55 plus year old couple and will be arriving in Toronto 2nd week in October for 3 weeks. I wondered if anyone can advise or have some suggestions for the two weeks after weve explored Toronto? We will have a car and dont mind a 3/4 hour drive outside Toronto. We intend a visit to Niagara, but other than that I'm just not sure what to do.

We like nature, the outdoors and wild life. I've thought about booking a cabin somewhere around 1000 islands. Are there things to do, for a couple…

I will be driving from Nanaimo to Tofino in July (as well as back later a few days later). I would like to stop along the way at interesting places. They could be short hikes, scenic spots, towns/villages, interesting shops or cafes, etc. Looking at the map, I see that I go through Port Alberni and Ucluelet so I will stop there along the way (maybe it makes more sense to visit one on the way there, and the other on the way home?). Is there anywhere else I should stop during this drive? I'll be…

Three friends and I have five days to take a road trip from Seattle up to Vancouver Island and back. We were thinking of Seattle, Port Angeles, Victoria, Tofino, maybe some other stops on the island, and stopping back through Vancouver on the way back. It's the second week of July so kind of high tourist season. The aim is to do some camping maybe mixed in with an AirBnB, not race around too much but just enjoy the island, and keep it on a pretty modest budget. Any and all suggestions for the…

I heard the news about this new low-cost air carrier on CBC Radio the other day, and here's an online news article about the launch: https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/swoop-airlines-what-you-need-to-know-about-canada-s-new-low-cost-carrier-1.3981960

Prices for flights start at less than 100 CAD. But add-ons for seat selection, and checked or carry-on luggage (26 to 57 CAD) add up. Airports served: Abbotsford, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Halifax.

After an absence of many years, the mostly-free concerts down by the waterside at 'Harbourfront' are apparently going to return this summer. One example is a concert by world music star Vieux Farka Toure, which will apparently occur during the 3 Day Small World concerts Aug. 17-19. Especially if a show is free, the value would be outstanding, as the summer atmosphere in that quayside locale is about as good as it gets in the city.
Back in the day, numerous World Music superstars (inc. Vieux's…

Hi there,

My husband and I, as well as our then-to-be 2 year old daughter will be visiting Canada in August 2019 for a friends wedding. We are hoping to travel around for the full length of August - 1st to 31st.

From 9 - 15 August we will be in Killarney Park for the wedding/festivities.

Just wanting advice on a potential itinerary and where to fly into? We will want to hire a car and are mainly interest in the usual touristy sites and anything with parks/animal related. Whale watching would…
