A gentle three hour tour of the Squamish Harbour and Estuary, exploring the ecology and waterways of this unique and beautiful environment. Estuary ecosystems are comprised of salt marshes, mudflats, rocky intertidal shore, sea grass beds, tidal streams, and barrier beach habitats. The diversity of habitats found in estuaries, combined with the constant mixing of salt and fresh water produces a highly productive environment that is home to a great abundance of flora and fauna. When an abundance of organisms interact in an ecosystem, this area is said to be a hotspot for biodiversity.
The tours are in sheltered waters using stable single or double kayaks or SUPs, no experience necessary! All equipment is included.
The tour starts at the Squamish Adventure Centre conveniently located close to downtown Squamish and the highway. Please show up 20 before the scheduled departure time to get your gear. Outfitted with the proper gear we head to the water and begin our paddle after a quick introduction to safety and technique. We then head to explore the harbour and eventually the wonder filled estuary with all the wildlife that makes the estuary their home. In beautiful morning light or in the golden evening light, we explore and play along the shore. The guide will take great care of you, pointing out the wonders along the way. After about our paddle, we return back to the Squamish Adventure Centre whereto can drop the gear off. After goodbyes and new experience you will leave satisfied to continue your day or evening.
