You'll find affordable cafés and restaurants in any urban area in Cameroon, dishing up a starchy staple alongside grilled meat or fish and greens. Hotel restaurants often offer the best quality and variety. Breakfast is generally a treat, with French-style pastries, fresh fruit and juices. When travelling you can buy roadside snacks from itinerant vendors. Beers is drunk at shacks and bars from dawn to dusk.
A street snack of fish or brochettes (kebabs) will rarely cost more than CFA1500. In sit-down restaurants and business hotels outside of the major cities, expect to pay around CFA5000 to CFA7000 for a full meal; that can climb to CFA10,000 or more in Yaoundé and Douala.
