Feature: Sihanoukville Ferry Tips
A few things to keep in mind about the ferry system between Sihanoukville and its islands:
- During low season, some of the advertised ferries simply don't run, so be sure to check with a person who works for the company in advance.
- Sometimes ferries do not go direct, and this can mean transfer times to and from the islands can be quite lengthy. There's not much you can do about this; just try to relax and enjoy the scenery, and be extremely conservative in your estimates of when you'll arrive anywhere.
- All companies ask that tickets are stamped in advance (some say day before, others three hours before). In high season this is particularly important, because a large number of people are transferring and seat availability often becomes an issue. In low season this is not as crucial, but sometimes the smaller ferries still fill up.
