Perched on secluded Sunset Beach and flanked by the jungle, this small collection of thatched-roof bungalows and glistening hardwood common spaces looks like an island fantasy land. During high season, a beach restaurant with a bar constructed from the bow of a boat serves up cold beers, wine, cocktails and barbecue, and everybody goes snorkelling on a nearby reef.

In the rainy season, the restaurant-bar is relocated to an open-air, multi-storey space in the jungle, and people laze about in hammocks slung up over the rooftop.

Buva Sea offers a US$25 return ferry to Sunset Beach in high season. Otherwise, you've got to arrive via 45-minute jungle trek from Saracen Bay, which is quite the adventure.

Quick description via booking.com

Situated along the west coastline on the quiet shores of Sunset Beach, which stretches over 600 metres, Huba-Huba offers accommodation in Koh Rong Samloem. The property offers traditional wooden bungalows surrounded by the canopy trees. Fitted with wooden floors and thatched straw roofs, bungalows are furnished with a mosquito net, simple indoor furniture and a safe. Bungalows come with either a shared or en suite bathroom with toilet and cold shower facilities. Bungalows feature a private terrace with a seating area and are equipped with a hammock. Bungalows open up to views of the sea, while some units are located right on the beach. At Huba-Huba, guests can enjoy outdoor activities such as snorkelling, diving and hiking in the jungle. Guests can also participate in a game of volleyball or ping pong. Luggage storage are available on request for free. During the low season (May to November), the in-house restaurant is located 20 metres from the beach, set in a cosy, jungle area. Guests can enjoy beachfront dining during high season (December to May). Local, vegetarian and Western cuisine can be prepared by the cooks of the in-house restaurant, with seafood dishes available during the high season.

Important information

Please note that guests are required to take boat transfers from Buva Sea Cambodia to arrive directly at Sunset Beach on the west side of Koh Rong Samloem. Boats depart from Sihanoukville at 14:00 and return from Sunset Beach at 15:00. Boat transfers take about 45 minutes. Each return ticket costs USD 25. Please note that during rainy season, the boat might not be able to dock at the pier due to high waves. It will berth instead at Saracen Bay, on the other side of the island. It is about a 40 minute-walk across the jungle to Huba-Huba. The property only accepts cash in US Dollars or Cambodian Riels. There is no ATM (Automated Teller Machine) on the island.
