Angkor Gondola is a unique Khmer traditional boat service located by the South Gate of Angkor Thom on a small Baray, a type of reservoir typical of ancient Khmer water management. Enjoy gliding gently along, as the sun sets over the gate of Angkor Thom or from Prasat Chrung.
This short, yet very romantic excursion will start at 4:30pm, where we will pick you up from your hotel in Siem Reap, accompanied by an English speaking guide. A short drive will bring you to the embarkation point at Prasat Chrung for boarding your own gondola.Khmer people have been known as skilled boat makers throughout history and a number of various boats, including the boats used by their navy in a war to win a victory over Cham in the reign of King Jayavarman VII. Twenty nine of the ancient boat sculptures in Bayon temple are seen, demonstrating the courage of the navy during King Jayavarman VII’s period. The archaeologists illustrate that the ancient Khmer boats and Cham boats carved in the wall of the Bayon temple are the victories of King Jayavarman VII’s navy force over Cham’s navy in the war after 1177 A.D. One of these types of boats have been carefully constructed to resemble the fine art work done in the past.Known as a ‘Kongkear Angkor’, this gondola is a unique Khmer tradition boat service in Siem Reap. You will travel over the holy waterway where history, nature and culture come alive. You will enjoy and view the past and take photographs along all of Angkor Thom, the Royal Secret Path and City Guard Post.You can also see the beautiful sunset at Great Wall before returning back at around 5:30pm to the Prasat Chrung and back to your hotel.
