Eating

Despite its diminutive size Bujumbura has some great places to eat. The beachside drinking places also do meals of the brochettes-and-chips type, if you need some food to go with that beer. On the other hand if you’re looking for a cheap, no-frills buffet (usually lunch only) you’ll find no shortage of them around town. Most serve identical fare for identical prices. Expect a big helping of carbohydrates in the form of cassava, potatoes, rice and beans and some meat or fish in a tasty stew-like sauce.
