Sofia has some of the country's best restaurants, including traditional and international cuisines.

In summer, cafes occupy every piece of garden and footpath. Some are basic spots for a coffee and a sandwich; others offer a more refined setting for cocktails and cakes. Most open from about 8am to midnight.

Kiosks around town sell tasty local fast food such as banitsa (cheese pasties) and palachinki (pancakes), plus pizzas and burgers.
