Seafood restaurants line the waterfront in Itaguá 3km southeast of Centro. Don’t miss azul-marinho (a delicious local stew of fish and green bananas) that gets its purplish-blue color from a chemical reaction between the latter and the iron cauldrons they're cooked in; and Ubatuba's own bananinhas (gooey sweets) at Tachão de Ubatuba. Many top restaurants are closed Monday to Thursday between March and November.
