Follow the yellow arrows for the 'waterfalls and rapids' trail, which is about 10.5km in length. The falls are set in a picturesque valley at the end of a trail that weaves through a classic cerrado landscape of meadows and gallery forests. Take loads of water and sunscreen; it’s a long uphill return under often-brutal sun.
A spectacular viewpoint over the first Rio Preto fall (120m) is followed by a small lake for swimming under the second (80m), where the sun creates a dazzling celestial effect under the water. You continue the walk to the rapids upstream, where you can also swim.
