For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

I'm looking for a hotel near GRU to both stay and safely store luggage for a few weeks between stays. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I’m travelling to the Iguazu Falls in a couple of weeks!
In all, I’ve got about 5 nights to spend in the area. I’m hoping to spend 2 nights on one side, and 3 nights on the other - question is: Which side is best to spend more time? Argentina or Brazil?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi my dear travellers

I plan to visit the smaller towns around santarem. It is not so easy to find out informations and unfortunately I have not so much time, so I have to point out the towns I want to visit.

From Santarem to Monte Alegre there are slow boats I already travelled with. But I saw also, that there is now a ferry from Santarem to a ferry point Santana to Tapara. Looking at the map, it seems that in Santana there is nothing, no house, no town.

The ferry runs 4 times daily or so…

Hi,I am going to visit south Pantanal starting from campo Grande next september 2018. I would like to take a tour (4 days, 3 nights) and I would like to know information about a good pousada with everything included ( I was reading about Santa Clara which has a lot of good reviews). In particular I would like to know the prices with a single room and a detailed description of the activities. Thank you. Alessandro

I've read through the forum and haven't found anyone commenting on this.

Ecoverde (Joel Souza) is a good bit cheaper than the other northern Pantanal places I checked. (Pantanal Nature, Wildlife Pantanal, Gasparetour. Pantanal Trackers are booked.) Are his tours substantially less good?

I'm not set on jaguars but I really want to see the otters, and it seems they go together.

Thanks!

I'll be in Manaus in the coming month for work, and once my job is done, I need to get from Manaus into Colombia. Final destination is Cartagena.

I want to do the trip as cheaply as possible, so I've been looking at the slow boat to Tabatinga. Hammocks sound budget-friendly and they're more in line with my usual form of travel, but I'll be traveling with a lot of electronics and camera equipment for my work, so I'm nervous about sleeping out in the open and having things stolen while I sleep…

Howdy! I'm looking for travel buddies for a trip to Brazil on November of this year (God willing). I also want to know if it's suitable to get into a hostal for the trip. And which one is a good one to stay in.

Thanks!

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a hotel near Cuiaba centre ? I would like a basic, cheap room with bath - not a dormitory.
The problem with most bookings is that they require a bank transfer deposit, which is expensive in the UK.

The last time I used a booking website, the hotel had no record of my booking and there was a good deal of trouble finding another hotel. It would be better to deal direct with the hotel.

Any thoughts ?
