Set in the former customs house built right on the river mouth, this informative and colorful museum is dedicated to Maranhense culture and features a great collection of costumes and props from Carnaval and Bumba Meu Boi. There are also displays on river-going boats of the region and explanations of Maranhão's different kinds of drums. Some displays are accompanied by English text.
