Tours can be narrated in Portuguese, Spanish and English.Rio de Janeiro's famous Tijuca National Park incorporates the world's largest urban forest, as well as the Cordova mountain peak, home to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. The forest covers 39 square kilometers  (25 square miles) and attracts locals and tourists who enjoy fantastic picnic areas, nature walks, a number of stunning waterfalls and wildlife. You will be able to see many types of insects, ocelots and howler monkeys, while birds have been successfully reintroduced to the area over the years, making the national park particularly attractive to birdwatchers. The forest is also home to hundreds of species of plants, many of them saved from extinction. The vegetation is very dense, which affects the temperatures in surrounding areas. The history of Tijuca National Park is an interesting one. In 1861, the Brazilian Emperor Dom Pedro II, concerned that intensive farming was causing erosion and deforestation, and therefore affecting the supply of drinking water to the city, declared that replanting would be carried out. The forward-thinking leader thus saved Rio’s water supply. In 1961, the forest was declared a national park and has been visited by millions since then. Besides the famous statue which is located at the top of the Corcovado Mountain, visitors can also view the Cascatinha Waterfall (one of about 30 falls in the park), the gazebo at the Vista Chinesa lookout, the Mesa do Imperador granite picnic table and the Mayrink Chapel.I am sure you're gonna LOVE it....Unforgettable!!!
