Getting There & Away

Full-size public buses and tour vans stop at the west end of Av Baía dos Golfinhos; public minibuses and microbuses terminate on Rua dos Cajueiros close to the corner with Av Baía dos Golfinhos near the southeast edge of town.

Riograndense has 10 daily buses (six on Sundays) from Natal's Rodoviária Nova to Pipa (R$19, 1½ hours) and back. Last departure from Natal is 6pm and from Pipa is 6:30pm except on Sundays when it's 5pm and 5:30pm respectively. Going to Pipa from Natal, you can also catch the bus at the stop on Av Salgado Filho in front of Carrefour in Lagoa Nova (reached from Ponta Negra by bus 26, 46 or 73), about 10 minutes after they leave the Rodoviária Nova.

Alternatively, Opcional runs microbuses from the Rodoviária Nova to Pipa at 5:30am, 9:10am and 1:55pm, returning from Pipa to Natal at 7:30am, 11:30am and 4:30pm (R$18, 2½ hours).

Schedules on all these services change frequently, so check in advance.

If you're coming by bus from the south, get out at Goianinha (1½ hours from João Pessoa), where minibuses – nicknamed 'Dolphin van' – run every 10 to 15 minutes to Pipa (R$4.50, 50 minutes, from 5am to 11:40pm) from behind the faded pale-blue church, 250m off the main road. In Pipa they leave from the van stop at the Av Baía dos Golfinhos near the southeast edge of town from 5:45am to just after midnight.

Pipatour can reserve bus seats from Goianinha to Recife or Salvador for a R$20 fee.
